Legal and trademarks

OpenBoxGL is an independent open-source project. It is not affiliated, associated, authorized, endorsed by, or in any way officially connected with LaunchBox, Unbroken Software, LLC, the Openbox window manager project, or the owners of any referenced brands.

Project identity

• Use the full name OpenBox Game Launcher on first mention in public listings, package descriptions, screenshots, release announcements, and AppStream metadata. Short name OpenBox may be used after first mention.
• The project is unrelated to Openbox, the Linux window manager, and is not affiliated with its maintainers.
• The io.openbox.GameLauncher application ID and openbox:// URI scheme are technical identifiers under the FreeDesktop reverse DNS convention and do not imply affiliation with the Openbox window manager.
• Do not describe OpenBoxGL as official, endorsed, sponsored, or produced by another project or company. Do not use composite names that suggest affiliation, such as OpenBox LaunchBox or LaunchBox on Linux by OpenBox.

Content boundaries

• OpenBoxGL does not distribute, host, or bundle games, ROMs, ISOs, BIOS files, firmware, decryption keys, or DRM circumvention tools. Users supply the files; OpenBoxGL catalogs, launches, and tracks them. No cover art or game files are vendored. Showcase images are user supplied captures of user supplied games.
• Users remain responsible for the terms and rate limits of third-party services (RetroAchievements, EmuMovies, IGDB, Steam, Gameyfin, and so on) and for ensuring they have the right to use the files they point at OpenBoxGL.
• Do not copy third-party logos, artwork, cover art, screenshots, or other branded assets into the repository, release artifacts, or documentation site without a documented license or written permission. Contributions that include third-party assets must state the source, the applicable license, and that the contributor has the right to submit them. Third-party marks

Third-party names and marks belong to their respective owners and appear only to describe compatibility, interoperability, supported workflows, or factual comparison:

• LaunchBox and Big Box are trademarks of Unbroken Software, LLC.
• Steam, Epic, GOG, Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, Sega, RetroArch, and emulator names belong to their respective owners.
• References do not constitute or imply endorsement, sponsorship, affiliation, or recommendation. Use product names in plain text with correct capitalization and without altering logo trade dress. Do not place a third-party logo next to the OpenBox logo to imply co-branding.

Formal notices and designated agent

Do not post private contact details or formal legal notices in public issues, discussions, or pull requests. GitHub is the host and the designated agent for content stored on GitHub.
